Safety is an important aspect of driving to which every motorist should pay attention. This means taking the necessary precautions in order to minimize risk of injury from car accidents. Wearing one’s safety belt and driving at a safe speed are two of the most important safety measures a driver and passengers should take while on the road. Unfortunately, it seems that both of these safety measures may not have been heeded in a recent fatal crash in Ohio.
The incident happened when a 16-year-old motorist was driving her car with four other teens as passengers. The driver was speeding and somehow ended up driving off the side of the road, crashing into a tree. None of the five people in the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time.
The incident resulted in the death of the three teens who were sitting in the rear seat of the vehicle. One of the teens who died was a 17-year-old male, while the other two decedents were both 15 years of age. The driver and the 16-year-old front seat passenger were both hospitalized and received treatment for their injuries from medical staff.
It is tragic that the lives of the three teenagers had to end this early in life due to this car accident in Ohio. The families of the three decedents will undoubtedly experience significant emotional turmoil. Further, just like with other car accidents, the families of the decedents of this crash may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Successfully litigated cases could help the families obtain some monetary reimbursement for their loss.
