Automobile accidents: Teen killed in Ohio crash

On Behalf of | May 5, 2016 | Car Accidents

The issues that can arise after a car accident may leave individuals feeling overwhelmed about where to turn for help. If automobile accidents result in the death of an individual, knowing what options are available could seem even more vital to the surviving family. One family in Ohio may be looking into certain legal options after recently losing a loved one.

Reports stated that the accident took place around 9 p.m. and involved one vehicle. There were at least two individuals in the car at the time of the accident, an 18-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger. The driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle while traveling, and the car left the road before striking a pole.

The driver of the car escaped the crash without injury. However, his passenger suffered serious injuries, and he was later declared dead at an area hospital. It was noted that both individuals were wearing seat belts. Residents of the area where the crash took place stated that speeding vehicles were always a concern, but it was unclear whether the driver was speeding when this accident occurred. Authorities are continuing to investigate.

The family of the teen killed in this crash are undoubtedly shocked by their sudden loss. If they feel it could be right for them, they may wish to consider filing a wrongful death claim against the driver and any other parties considered liable for the accident. Such a claim could potentially help the family — and other families similarly affected by automobile accidents — seek compensation for their loss and other damages permitted under Ohio law.
