K&F’s first post-pandemic jury trial resulted in a $10.6 million verdict for the widow of a mesothelioma victim.

Past asbestos exposure continues to take its toll

For many industrial workers in Ohio, exposure to asbestos occurred on a daily basis for decades, both before and, unfortunately, even after the hazards of the substance were known. Today, an alarming number of individuals continue to pay the price for this when they develop mesothelioma, a deadly cancer that results from asbestos exposure. While Ohio is a state with many asbestos-related deaths, its residents are sadly not alone in their plight.

In another state, a former Texaco employee has filed a lawsuit against the company alleging asbestos exposure. The recently filed suit also names a number of other companies as defendants, including Metlife, 3M Company, TMR Company and Able Supply. According to the complaint filed by the man and his wife, he was exposed to the hazardous substance from 1947 well into the 1970s while working for Texaco Asphalt.

The asbestos products to which the plaintiff was exposed during his employment were made and/or sold by the defendants named within the suit. The complaint alleges that the defendants all failed to warn the man of the hazards of asbestos exposure. As a direct result, he now suffers from mesothelioma, the lawsuit claims.

The former employee and his wife are suing for his pain and suffering and costly medical expenses. Sadly, residents of Ohio may find themselves in similar circumstances due to past employment-related asbestos exposure. Workers who were employed in factories or worked in manufacturing plants with metal or high-heat machinery who have since developed mesothelioma may benefit from exploring their options for justice and compensation with an attorney experienced in asbestos litigation.
