Some Ohio automobile accidents caused by driver inattention

Sometimes, car crashes occur due to events that might have been hard to avoid, such as poor weather or mechanical failure. Other times, though, automobile accidents are caused by something as simple and preventable as a driver failing to pay attention or follow traffic laws. Sadly, an incidence of negligence may come at a high price when these accidents all too often turn out to be fatal.

This seems to be the case in an Ohio car wreck that occurred early on a recent Saturday morning. A 63-year-old man had driven his SUV to the side of the road. The vehicle, which was towing a utility trailer, had lost a tire, and the man had pulled over to change it. According to reports, another vehicle failed to move over and around the stopped SUV.

The car struck the back of the man’s trailer as he was standing near his vehicle. The collision led to him being pinned beneath the trailer and he died at the scene. After striking the SUV, the other vehicle overturned before running off the side of the road. When the car came to a rest on its right side, the driver — a 55-year-old woman — was taken to a hospital.

The severity of the woman’s injuries is unknown, but officials say the crash remains under investigation. Reports to date seem to indicate that the woman’s apparent negligence possibly led to the fatal accident. Barring evidence to the contrary, if the woman’s fault remains apparent, the grieving family of the deceased man may choose to speak with an attorney experienced in wrongful death cases. A lawyer can offer legal counsel and advice on pursuing justice to any residents of Ohio who have lost loved ones in automobile accidents due to another’s negligence.
