Car accidents: 2 dead, numerous others injured in recent crash

On Behalf of | Oct 12, 2017 | Car Accidents

Each driver has a duty of care to protect the safety of everyone nearby when out on the road. Unfortunately, sometimes a breach in this duty occurs, and one person’s negligent actions can place those nearby in harm’s way. Car accidents that occur under similar circumstances can be devastating. A recent collision involving four vehicles in Ohio has claimed the lives of two individuals, and left numerous others with injuries.

The accident reportedly took place around 10 a.m. on a recent Saturday when a vehicle suddenly crossed into an oncoming lane and crashed into a truck. Authorities say the vehicle proceeded to travel in the wrong lane and struck a van, and a fourth car was apparently unable to stop in time and also struck the van. According to reports, there were nine individuals involved in the collision, two of whom were pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Numerous others were airlifted to the hospital for treatment of injuries following the accident. Although an investigation into the incident is underway, the reason the first vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic is unclear. When faced with such negligence, other drivers may find it difficult, if not impossible, to react in time to avoid collision, potentially leaving them to suffer in a situation over which they had no control.

Those who suffer serous injuries or lose someone close in dangerous car accidents may wish to seek accountability through the civil justice system, but the process can be stressful and intimidating. When facing a similar situation, a person could speak with an attorney in Ohio for assistance in navigating the process. An attorney can evaluate the situation and assist a client in pursuing the full amount of compensation to which he or she is entitled through a claim against the party or parties deemed at fault.
