Many factors can influence the force of an impact. For instance, the size and weight of the vehicles plays a role, especially if one of the vehicles is much larger than the other. Car accidents tend to be worse when one vehicle is an 18-wheeler and the other is a passenger vehicle.

The impact in a recent crash ended with several people suffering serious injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Two of the four people involved suffered critical injuries. The accident occurred on Interstate 71. A big rig headed north on the highway swerved to the left for some reason. When it did, it struck a passenger vehicle.

Both vehicles went through the guard rail and into the median. While the passenger vehicle rolled onto its roof and came to rest there in the median, the 18-wheeler kept going. As it went into the oncoming lanes of travel, it hit another vehicle before finally come to a stop after hitting a sound barrier. Three of the people involved in this crash were airlifted from the scene, and one more was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. Police are asking for any witnesses who saw the impact to come forward.

This accident was so severe that even the driver of the truck was one of the ones who suffered serious injuries, but this does not excuse the fact that he is believed to be responsible for the accident. The victims of this crash could spend a significant amount of time recovering from their injuries and could amass a substantial amount of financial losses as a result. They may exercise their rights to file personal injury claims in an Ohio civil court seeking damages awarded in similar car accidents.
