Mesothelioma victim blames dozens of companies for cancer

Although some asbestos exposure cases can be traced back to a single company or exposure, other claims are not as well defined. Exposure from companies decades ago can be a complicated matter for Ohio victims. One woman believes that she developed cancer after continual asbestos exposure over several years.

Although nearly 50 companies have been cited in her lawsuit, her suit specifically cites several incidents. Several members of the family changed out brake pads that contained asbestos at her residence, resulting in at least one instance of exposure. She also points to two of her husband’s former employers — Camcraft Inc. and Aluminum Boats — as points of exposure. She claims that he brought home trace amounts of asbestos on his clothing to which she was then exposed.

Sadly, her claim describes a lifetime of asbestos exposure, including childhood exposure from a nearby factory. Late in life, she developed mesothelioma, a deadly form of cancer caused by exposure to the toxic substance asbestos. It is common for mesothelioma to take years to develop following exposures.

It is unclear how much in damages she seeks, but cited damages include pain and suffering, lessened quality of life and disfigurement. Medical expenses for cancer can also be quite costly, which can force individuals on an otherwise limited budget to make difficult decisions. Individuals in Ohio who have developed mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos have the right to take action. Whether the exposure was from one company or many more, seeking legal recourse for related damages may help victims move forward with their recovery.
